新年になって欧米の個人サイトは静かだ。ニュー・イヤーの挨拶を最後にクリスマスを十分に楽しんでいるのでしょう。面白い話題が伝わってこないのが手持ち無沙汰な、新年は欧米も日本も祝うのだなぁとも感じています。
普段は日本とアメリカの祝日の違いに、インターネットは止まらないとイメージしてますが錯覚なんだなぁ。

VLCメディアプレイヤーはVideoLAN コミュニティによって開発されたフリーのオープンソースのエンコーダー、ストリーミング機能を持つメディアプレイヤーです。

VLCは様々なプラットフォームで実行可能な自身の内部コーデックを使用し、ほとんどすべてのファイル、CD、DVD、ネットワークストリーム、キャプチャーカードおよび、その他のメディアフォーマットを読み込むことができます！

Improvements in VLC 2.1
With a new audio core, hardware decoding and encoding, port to mobile platforms, preparation for Ultra-HD video and a special care to support more formats, 2.1 is a major upgrade for VLC. Rincewind has a new rendering pipeline for audio, with better efficiency, volume and device management, to improve VLC audio support. It supports many new devices inputs, formats, metadata and improves most of the current ones, preparing for the next-gen codecs. Rincewind fixes around a thousand bugs, in more than 7000 commits from 140 volunteers.Details on this major update are available online.

このアップデートが VLC’s 2.1シリーズの本格的なリリースといえるだろう。
オーディオコアが刷新され更に、HEVC/H.265 in MKV, MP4 と raw files に対応。OSX 10.9 Maverick から 10.6 レパードで動作する。それ以前のシステムでの動作は切り捨てられた形となるが、それによる不便はないだろう。むしろ 10.5 以前のシステムでは十分な活躍は期待できないと思われる。
こうした見直しは、これからはインターネット・ツールを考え直す機会になるだろう。

このアップデートが VLC’s 2.0シリーズの最後になるだろう。
機能の充実もこれまでで十分満足されていると考える。振り返れば VLC’s 2.0シリーズは音源の著作権に対しての見直しを考えさせられた。これからはインターネット・ツールの新たな便利さを求めての変化になっていくだろう。

高音質の音楽も、ヴィデオのファイルも簡易再生ができるので重宝しているアプリケーション。MacOSXシステムが本来可能に出来ている機能を何故か生かしきれていないところを、ちょっと穴埋めしてくれていて助かります。

最近はもっぱら、ハイレゾ音源の再生に活躍。時にエラーがでていたけれども、アップデート前後のバージョンでは『24bit 192khz』のデータもストレスを感じられない。効果を付与できるイコライジングもあるので音源に寄って手を加えて聞いていますが、それはお楽しみでストレートに聞いていて不満が出ることはない。

日本語化は随分以前に対応されていた記憶がありますが、今回のアップデートでは部分的修正がされた様子。初めて利用するユーザーも、現在の日本語訳に戸惑うことはないでしょう。マイナーなアップデートですが、いよいよ迫った MacOSX のニューバージョンに向けての準備号といった趣。今後の発展に期待しています。

最近はもっぱら、ハイレゾ音源の再生に活躍。『エフェクト』の効果を付与できるイコライジングもあるので音源に寄って手を加えて聞いています。

日本語化は随分以前に対応されていた記憶がありますが、今回のアップデートでは多言語化された様子。今後の発展に期待しています。
